MANILA, Philippines - Jakarta steps up its golf tourism campaign aimed at luring golfers from around the world as it launched a new website dedicated to the golf traveler – www.enjoyjakartagolf.com <http://www.enjoyjakartagolf.com/> .
In fact, the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), in cooperation with the city’s tourism office, has identified 21 of Jakarta’s 30 golf courses now open to visitors for a unique golfing experience. Full details and photographs of these courses are featured on the newly launched website.
“The launch of the website dedicated to the needs of golf travelers is another important step in our development as a golf destination,” said Hari Wibowo, manager of International Promotion for Enjoy Jakarta. “Few capital cities can offer 21 courses easily accessible to golf visitors and now everyone can see the great variety of golf experience on offer within an hour drive of the city.”
The website, with its tagline – Mirroring Jakarta’s Great City…Great Golf showcases the various golf and city experience for every golfer.
The website also features 173 shopping malls with shops often open late into the night, giving shoppers the chance to grab the best bargains after a day of golf.
The Indonesian capital also boasts of the best caddies in the world and there is a unique opportunity to experience golf as a VIP with a group of friends or colleagues since virtually all of Jakarta’s courses offer VIP facilities, including private changing rooms and lounges. “The golf course section presents exactly the information every golfer needs when planning a golf trip or holiday. In the Travel Advice section, golfers can find an IAGTO golf tour operator, in their own country, offering golf packages to Jakarta. We are very pleased to see how easy it is now for golf travelers to enjoy Jakarta golf,” said IAGTO chief executive Peter Walton.
Meanwhile, 135 tour operators from 32 countries have registered for the fourth IAGTO Asia Golf Tourism Convention slated April 27-30 at the Balai Sidang Jakarta Convention Center.
