Judiciary, PNP smother UNTV rivals

MANILA, Philippines - Former PBA players Don Camaso and Ariel Capus scored 24 points each as Judiciary upended defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines, 93-76, in the third UNTV Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City Wednesday.
The 6-foot-6 Camaso, a former Talk n Text mainstay, also hauled down 13 rebounds to post the first double-double performance in the season.
Capus also turned in an impressing outing, a 7-of-10 shooting from field, including 2-of-4 from the three-point area, as the Judiciary Magis rolled to their second straight win in Group B of the 11-tournament presented by UNTV.
Model-artist John Hall also had a solid 19-point game for Judiciary, including eight in a pivotal third period that saw the Magis outscore the Cavaliers, 27-14, to pull away for good.
The AFP Cavaliers slipped to 1-1 in a tie with GSIS, which pulled off a thrilling 86-81 win over the National Housing Authority Builders.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police Responders forged a two-way tie for Group A lead with the Malacañang Patriots as they crushed the House of Representatives Solons, 110-64.
Joseph Francisco and former University of the East star Ollan Omiping led PNP’s charge with 16 and 14 points, respectively, for their second straight win.
