SBP-Passerelle Nationals gather best youth cagers
MANILA, Philippines - The nationals of Small Basketeers of the Philippines (SBP)-Passerelle is all set on Dec. 12-14, bringing together the champions from National Capital Region (NCR), Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to the Magis Eagles Arena of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo De Cebu.
Completing the SBP banner is Visayas’ winning team Ateneo de Iloilo, which defeated close rival University of San Carlos, 44-42. Ateneo de Iloilo will face other regional champions – NCR’s Xavier School, Luzon’s Berkeley School and Mindanao’s Bukidnon Faith Christian School, Inc.
Earning tickets to the Passerelle nationals is University of Visayas, which beat Hua Siung College of Iloilo, 57-35 during their regionals. Other Passerelle teams clashing in the championships are reigning national champions, NCR’s Chiang Kai Shek College, Luzon’s Holy Angel University, Visayas’ University of Visayas, and Mindanao’s Holy Child College of Davao.
This year, the SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament has assembled 600 of the country’s most promising cagers, with kids 9-11 years old competing in the SBP tournament and kids 12-14 years competing in the Passerelle Tournament, all putting the lessons they learned from BEST Center to the test.
Sponsored by MILO and supported by Chris Sports, the SBP-Passerelle Twin Tournament was founded in 1986 and is organized by the award-winning Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training (BEST) Center. It provides budding young basketeers a platform to showcase their basketball skills, as well as foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among the participating schools, the players and their parents.
