MANILA, Philippines – It may not be point blank, but eight-division Manny Pacquiao called out undefeated American Floyd Mayweather Jr. anew, this time on social media.
The Filipino-boxing icon posted a photo on his Instagram account (emmanuelpacquiao) showing his rage against Chris Algieri, whom he dominated in Macau last month.
“Stop throwing punches on Instagram and let's get in the ring! #TBE #TheBestExcuses.” the caption read.
A few days after Pacquiao's victory, Mayweather posted a 15-second video in his Instagram and Facebook accounts that shows how the Filipino boxer got knocked out by Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez.
Pacquiao gave his thoughts about Mayweather's latest taunt and said: “And so he thinks I’m easy to be knocked out. So come on let’s fight.”
Pacquiao is very vocal about his willingness to fight Mayweather in what is expected to go down as the richest bout in boxing history.
But until now, Mayweather hasn't accepted the challenge, though sources close to him said he wants to make the fight happen.
In a report, Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach claimed that even though there is no formal talk about the fight yet, Mayweather already wants the assurance of a rematch in case he loses to the Filipino.
“‘My understanding is that Floyd is insisting on the rematch if Manny beats him, which I believe he will,” Roach said in an article by Jeff Powell of The Daily Mail.
