Marho races this weekend
MANILA, Philippines - Horseracing fans will witness the clash of elite thoroughbreds this weekend at the Metropolitan Association of Race Horse Owners Ruby Racing Festival championship races at the Manila Jockey Club’s San Lazaro Leisure Park.
Marho, founded in 1974, is the oldest organization of horseowners, and its flagship program, the Marho Cup championships, have been sponsored since its inception by San Miguel Corp. Established by Marho in 1996, the Marho Cup program was conceived of by Marho president emeritus Aristeo Puyat and chairman Leonardo Javier Jr. as an incentive program to encourage the growth and development of the Philippine thoroughbred industry.
The Marho Cup is the longest-running racing festival, this year offering P6 million in total purses for six championship races - the SMC–Marho Ruby Classic, the SMC-Marho Ruby Colt Mile, the PCSO-Marho Ruby Filly Mile, the Philracom-Marho Ruby Juvenile Colts, the Philracom-MARHO Ruby Juvenile Fillies, and the Manila Jockey Club-Marho Ruby Sprint, all to be held Sunday.
