BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS – UAAP vs NCAA
MANILA, Philippines - Reigning UAAP champion National U and NCAA titleholder San Beda clash in a virtual knockout for a seat in the championship series of the Premier Four stage of the National Collegiate Championship tomorrow at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig.
The NU Bulldogs and San Beda Red Lions have one loss each. The Bulldogs were surprised by the gritty stand of UV Green Lancers in Cebu City while the Red Lions were edged out by theLa Salle Green Archers.
Only the top four teams of the Elite Eight will advance to Premier Four with number 1 and number 2 teams meeting for the title, and team 3 and 4 battling for third.
In the second game, defending national collegiate champion Green Archers will go for a spot in the championship series and a revenge win over UAAP tormentor, FEU Tamaraws. The Tamaraws denied DLSU a finals seat in the recent UAAP with a last-second shot by Mac Belo.
The Green Archers are the only unbeaten team in the Elite Eight stage, having survived the tough Cebu leg where the University of San Carlos Warriors won over FEU Tamaraws and finished as the top Cebu team in the series.
All the Elite Eight games at Ynares are televised live by ABS-CBN Sports and Action channel starting at 2 p.m.
Tickets for the games are available online thru SM Ticket and at venue gates.
The Champions League National Collegiate Championship is sponsored by ABS-CBN, Phoenix Petroleum, Philippine STAR, Molten Balls, Fil-Oil Flying V Sports, Fog City Creamery and Foccacia. Tickets are available at SM Tickets online.
