The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Arellano University dominated a listless San Beda, 25-10, 25-10, 25-18, to join defending champion Perpetual Help in the lead in women’s play of the 90th NCAA volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City yesterday.

Dana Henson unloaded a match-best 13 hits, including 12 on kills, while CJ Rosario came through with a season high six blocks to finish with 12 points.

The Lady Chiefs, last year’s runners-up, thus tied the Perpetual Help Altas, the reigning titlists, at the helm with three straight wins.

Arellano’s men’s team also notched its third straight win after beating San Beda, 25-13, 25-18, 25-23.

Benrasid Latip fired 10 hits as the Chiefs jumped into a three-way tie for the lead with the Altas and the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals at 3-0.

In juniors’ action, Letran clobbered La Salle-Greenhills, 25-15, 25-15, 25-9, to improve to a 1-1 (win-loss) slate.

John Wilsan dela Cruz uncorked a match-best 12 hits to lead the way for the Squires, whose defeat came at the hands of the Altalettes, 19-25, 17-25, 33-31, 19-25, last week.
