MANILA, Philippines - Seaoil-DC karter Gabriel Tayao Cabrera clinched three of the major karting awards to cap a sterling seasoin in the Petron Blaze 100 ROK Cup Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack recently.
Cabrera, a 14 year-old Grade 10 student from Makati Hope Christian School, copped the ROK Overall and ROK Junior titles and went on to bag the season’s Junior Karter of the Year honors.
He is also eyeing the Asian Karting award as he leads the race for the Formula 125 Open Juniors plum heading to the final leg of the Asian Karting Open Championships on Nov. 28-30, also at the Carmona Racetrack.
Earlier this year, Cabrera also took the overall KF3 first runner-up honors.
Throughout the weekend, he swept all the races in Round 6 and 7 to win all seven races of the series and annexed both the ROK Overall and ROK Junior crowns with 460 and 475 points respectively.
Cabrera has cited his sponsors, including Point Zero Project, Media Magic and Imola Industries, for his impressive campaign this year along with his mom and grandmother for inspiration.
“But above all, I thank God for giving me this talent and guiding me through the years especially this season,” said Cabrera.
