MANILA, Philippines - Top karters brace for a showdown to earn the much needed points to boost their title chances today in the sixth leg of the Petron 100 ROK Cup Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack.
Eduardo Coseteng Jr. of Eagle Cement and Zachary David of Formula-E Racing seek crucial wins to bolster their hold of solo lead in their respective divisions in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Petron, Petron Blaze 100 Euro 4, Petron XCS, Petron Ultron, Petron Xtra, Petron Sprint, Magnolia Pure Water and Yokohama.
Coseteng Jr., hoping to carry on the legacy his father, champion car racer Jody Coseteng, needed the win to push his title bid against Flynn Jackes of Singapore-based KartMaster Drakar Racing Team and Bianca Bustamante of Formula-E Racing in the crowd favorite Mini-ROK Blaze 100 class.
The neck-and-neck battle among the three young aces got the spectators glued on throughout the race that often ended in photo finishes in the past legs.
Coseteng now holds 299 points but Jackes and Bustamante remain in close range in the title race with 266 and 193 points, respectively.
And the action is expected to intensify with the entry of newcomer Leroux Romain who wound up third in the last leg.
