Fabian reigns in Asian jr skating
MANILA, Philippines - Mikayla Shalom Fabian bested top rivals from China, India and Hong Kong to capture top honors in the Basic Junior Group 2 division of the Asian Junior Figure Skating Challenge at the Festival Walk Glacier Ice Skating Rink in Hong Kong recently.
Fabian, a graduating high school student at GCF International Christian School, wowed the crowd and earned the judges’ nod with her clean skating edges and excellent skills. While continuing to refine her jumps and advance spins, Fabian displayed grace on ice and winsome attitude to bag the top plum.
During the competition, her official coach Clarisse Roman oversaw her performances and the short program originally choreographed by coach Jericho Lim.
The 16-year-old charmer performed the short and long programs with music Salut d’Amor and Feeling Good.
Fabian, who took up international competitive figure skating only three years ago, is slowly making a name for herself in the international circuit because of her innate grace and skating skills. She was trained for the Hong Kong competition by London-based coach Lasantha Salpadoru and former Canadian figure skater Maxime-Billy Fortin.
