Khan picks Pacquiao to beat Algieri

MANILA, Philippines – British fighter Amir Khan is going for the safe route, picking Manny Pacquiao to defeat Chris Algieri in their fight on November 23 in Macau.

Khan is among the many others who believe Pacquiao is simply the superior fighter, telling Luis Sandoval of fighthype.com that the Filipino icon trumps Algieri in all departments.

"Pacquiao will be the winner. I think he's a better boxer; well, I mean, he's a stronger boxer, he punches harder, he has a little bit more quicker movements, he's more explosive,” the 27-year-old welterweight contender said.

Khan used to spar with Pacquiao and knows the fighting congressman too well to bet against him. But the former two-division champion wishes to get in the ring with Pacquiao someday.

Khan, who once held world titles at lightweight and super lightweight, takes on ex-IBF welterweight titlist Devon Alexander on December 13 for the WBC silver welterweight crown. If he wins, he wants either Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his next bout.

But Mayweather has no plans of returning to the ring soon, and Pacquiao has to get past Algieri first.

Khan thinks that with his better skills, Pacquiao will get the job done.

“I think that will win him the fight," he said. – Dino Maragay
