Iverson on possible return to pro hoops: I'm done
MANILA, Philippines – Former NBA superstar guard Allen Iverson on Tuesday admitted that his days on the basketball court are over.
“The passion you saw from me is gone,” said Iverson in a press conference held at the NBA Cafe in Taguig City.
“At this stage of my life, I’m done. I don’t want to do it anymore,” the 39-year-old former rookie of the year added.
The 2001 NBA MVP turned emotional as he shared that he can't bear to watch his former team, the Philadelphia 76ers, play.
“I can't watch the Sixers, I don't want to watch the Sixers, I get emotional watching them,” Iverson said.
For now, Iverson said he just wants to focus on his family and make up for lost time.
“I lost a lot of opportunities... playing in the league, traveling all the time. I love just being a full-time dad with my kids," he continued.
The No. 1 pick of the 1996 NBA Draft is in the country for a charity basketball event tomorrow, November 5, dubbed as “All-IN Basketball Charity Game” at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The event's proceeds will go to Gawad Kalinga.
