MANILA, Philippines - Princess Superal added the FCG National Tour Fall Series-Temecula crown to her growing list of victories, beating ICTSI teammate Pauline del Rosario by six with a closing two-under 70 at the Temecula Creek Inn course in California Sunday.
Superal, who leaned on a strong windup in the first round to seize control with a six-under 66, gunned down three late birdies to negate her lone bogey mishap on No. 15, finishing with a 35-34 card and cruising to a six-shot victory in the 36-hole event with a 136 aggregate.
Del Rosario, who also boasts of a sterling season, including a victory in the recent Faldo Series Final in West Virginia, actually moved within one off Superal with a birdie on No. 3 and an eagle on the ninth.
But Superal rolled in a six-footer for birdie, also on No. 9, to preserve a two-stroke edge then birdied Nos. 11 and 16 against a bogey while watching her fellow Asian Gamer lose steam and fumble with bogeys on Nos. 11, 14 and 16.
Del Rosario settled for a 72 and runner-up honors at 142 while local bet Kara Sanford fell short of her rally with a 69 and ended up third at 143.
Superal, who copped the US Girls Juniors crown last August and steered the Philippines to its first-ever Santi Cup title in Brunei last month, is also set to see action in at least three more tournaments abroad with Del Rosario and company where they hope to win again and cap another banner season for Team ICTSI.
