Hobe scores 2nd win in DELeague

MANILA, Philippines - Two-time defending champion Hobe Bihon-JVC hurdled stubborn Supremo Lex Builders-OLFU, 87-79, Thursday night to remain on top of Group A in the fourth DELeague Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Marikina Sports Center basketball covered court.

Despite Hobe-JVC’s numerous attempts to pull away, Supremo-OLFU was able to tie the game at 79-all with a jumper by Adrian Alban with 3:49 remaining.

The team, composed of players from Our Lady of Fatima University, however, did not score again as Hobe tightened its defense.

Teng Reyes led Hobe-JVC with 13 points followed by Mike Wards who finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Paul Santiago and former GlobalPort Batang Pier player, Mark Yee, contributed 10 points each.

Paul Pineda led Supremo-OLFU with 15 markers.

Hobe-JVC raised its record to 2-0 while Supremo-OLFU dropped to 1-1 in the league supported by Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman and sponsored by PCA Marivalley, St. Anthony Hospital, PS Bank Blue Wave Marquinton Branch, Luyong Restaurant, Mckie’s Equipment Sales and Rental, and Tutor 911.

In the other game, Siargao Legends demolished Marist Basketball League Selection, 111-63.

The Legends were led by CJ Perez who netted 16 points and big men Charles Mammie (15) and Mark “Big Mac” Andaya (14 added 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Siargao who is also undefeated in two games.

Mike Anoyanon and Francis Sison scored 11 points each for MBL while Edward Olotu finished with eight points and 12 rebounds.
