MCC final Checkmate series slated

MANILA, Philippines - The last series for the 2014 Milo Checkmate weekend Saturday-only chess clinics kicks off Nov. 8 at four venues in Metro Manila.

Among the courses offered are for beginners, intermediate and advance. Magnetic sets will be given away to the enrollees. Interested parties are advised to register at the venue site or contact the organizer, Metropolitan Chess Club at 0922-822-6319 and 0935-370-8808.

Meanwhile, enrollees Jan Franchezka Dansalan and Jerome Gabriel Arellano will fly to Melbourne today to participate in the 2014 Hjorth Open Chess Tournament.

They will be accompanied by WNM Milagros Emperado who will act as their coach and guardian.

The venues and schedules: San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila (8-11 a.m. 3F grade school dept); Starmall Edsa Shaw, 2F event area, Mandaluyong (10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.); Grace Christian College in Quezon City and at the 2F of NES Bldg. located in Evacom, Sucat, Parañaque (2 -5 p.m.).
