Cards, Enderun five make Martin’s semis
MANILA, Philippines - Mapua and Enderun College pulled off a pair of squeakers to barge into the semifinal round of the 12th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament at San Beda gym in Mendiola over the weekend.
Tora de la Rosa scored with 14.4 seconds left as the Cardinals turned back the Perpetual Help Altas, 88-87, while Willy Kamguia canned into two pressure-packed charities in the last 13.5 seconds as the Titans edged the San Beda-B side, 71-69.
Mapua takes on Emilio Aguinaldo College while Enderun faces off with San Beda-A in the semis of the event backed by Bauerfeind supports and orthoses and medical compression stockings, and Wang’s Basketball.
San Beda-A trounced National U, 76-69 while EAC outlasted Technological Institute of the Philippines, 84-81, to advance to the semis.
In juniors play, Jason Celis hit a jumper with 9.7 seconds to go as Adamson snatched a 75-73 win over Far Eastern University to advance to the semis against the National U Bullpups, who routed the San Sebastian Staglets, 78-60.
Xavier School, with Tyler Tio firing 17 points, defeated University of Santo Tomas, 77-71, to seal a semis duel with Arellano, which leaned on Charles Torrejos to stop San Benildo, 89-87, in overtime.
