Lim PSSBC chairman

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Businessman Jimi Lim has been designated chairman of the Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship (PSSBC) Board of Governors as the league prepares for the staging of its third edition starting on Nov. 8.

A die-hard basketball fan, Lim, 63, readily accepted the challenge of fellow governors to lead the league knowing their noble project has already gained the reputation as the national championship for high school.

“I would like to thank my fellow governors for their trust and confidence in my leadership,” said Lim. “With their support, I hope this year’s edition will be another success.”

As the league chairman, Lim’s construction company – Ironcon Builders – has also been named as this year’s title sponsor.

Lim, who once headed the Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association, will replace Blackwater Elite and Ever Bilena big boss Dioceldo Sy.

“Jimi Lim, being an architect, has a lot of good and interesting ideas for the league, so I’m leaving PSSBC in good hands,” said Sy.

San Sebastian College can’t defend the title it won last year after failing to reach the semis in the NCAA.

Aside from Lim and Sy, also supporting the league are Happy Toothpaste’s Dr. Cecilio Pedro, Terry Que of Rain or Shine, Jimmy dela Cruz of Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, Leoncio Chua of MEC, Rudy Yu of Dickies Underwear and Eduard Tio of Freego as other directors-sponsors of the league.

Without SSC, Mapua and San Beda, this year’s finalists, will lead the charge of NCAA along with Letran and Jose Rizal University.
