Top firms back 9th Highlands Ladies Cup

MANILA, Philippines - CATS Motors, Security Bank, W Group, Inc. and San Miguel Corp. head the growing roster of top firms and companies backing the ninth staging of the Highlands Ladies Cup which gets going Nov. 22 at Tagaytay Midlands Golf and Country Club.

CATS Motors, exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the country, will be coming in as the annual event’s Platinum sponsor along with the three other firms with Pilipinas Shell as Gold sponsor.

Bingo Bonanza, Comworks and Petron Corp. are the Silver sponsors while Burlington Socks, Capt. Bum Chil Heo, Concrete Masters, Kaiser Int’l. Health Group, Regent Travel and Universal Robina Corp. make up the list of Bronze sponsors.

Around 200 players are tipped to slug it out for top honors in the 18-hole tournament, organized by the Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter, to foster camaraderie among the leading golfing ladies from the country’s top clubs and their guests from the government and private sectors.

The event, supported by Splendido Taal Golf Club, will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and will use the System 36 scoring format, according to THLC president Rosalind Wee.

Felix Ang, president of CATS Motors, and Willie Ocier, vice-chairman of Belle Corp., are expected to lead the hitting of the ceremonial drives to kick off the tournament which also serves as a fund-raiser for THLC’s favorite charity, Sisters of Mary, Boys and Girls Town in Silang, Cavite with the mission of education for employment.

Up for grabs are the low gross and net titles along with the men’s Classes A, B and C and the seniors crowns.
