All set for Cannonball 1000

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The first-ever Cannonball 1000 will be staged on Jan. 9, 2015, with six-time endurance champion Joey Almeda as organizer.

It will have both cars and motorcycles seeing action in scenic routes all over North Luzon in over 1,000 kilometers in just 24 hours.

Top car and motorcycle manufacturers will see head-to-head in this event, as clubs, drivers and riders all over the Philippines will be coming to join, as individuals or in teams of 10.

It is open to all types of motorized vehicles, with 301cc and above qualifying for the 1000 class.

Underbones and scooters pegged at 300cc and below will fall under a class of their own, the Cannonball 500, which will be tracing a similar but more compact route of 500 kms under a 12-hour time limit.

The group class is looking forward to seeing teams composed of 10 riders to run either the Cannonball 1000 or Cannonball 500.
