Romero rules uphill motorcycle road race
MANILA, Philippines - Nikki Romero of Club200-Ducati Philippine Team reigns as the overall champion and the “King of the Mountain” in the first Jariel’s Peak Uphill Motorcycle Road Race Challenge organized by Adventure Team Philippines (ATP) last September.
The Jariel’s Peak Uphill Challenge is an 18.5 km. trial time race on Marifanta Highway, Quezon Province. It was influenced by the popular Pikes Peak uphill challenge in the US and the Isle of Men in Europe. It is now the toughest uphill race in the country today organized by ATP led by Francis Rivera, a known pioneer in race organizing including the Ironman Challenge. Jariel’s Peak is a tourist destination known for its twisties.
In the sports bike category, Romero clocked 11:05 with his Ducati Panigale.
Other Club200-Ducati Philippine Team members also won the competition’s two other awards. Miguel Bichara won in the standard bike category using a Ducati Monster with a time of 12:13. Hubert Soriano emerged victor in the adventure bike category using a Ducati MultiStrada, clocking 12:18.
