Eagle Ridge leads chase for club title at Summit

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Teams chasing the Club of the Year diadem make the final push, with frontrunning Eagle Ridge trying to go all the way in the concluding leg of the Sta. Lucia Golf Tour which will be co-hosted by the Summit Point Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas and Eagle Ridge in Gen. Trias, Cavite today and tomorrow.

Eagle Ridge, Summit Point and Royale Tagaytay are in a three-cornered battle for the overall title after the first two legs of the event co-presented by PLDT Home, Royale Homes, Readycon, Marriot and OPMC with Eagle – which amassed 80 points – just two points ahead of Summit Point (78) and Royale Tagaytay only eight points adrift.

Anything can happen in the final 36 holes of the Tour considered as the Manila leg which starts today at Summit Point – known for a layout inspired by the world’s most famous signature holes – and then finishes at the Aoki and Norman courses of the sprawling Eagle Ridge complex.

The first two legs were staged at the Rancho Palos Verdes in Davao and Alta Vista in Cebu last month with Eagle Ridge barely surviving the challenge of Summit Point and Royale Tagaytay.

The other teams in the field – Beverly Place (51 points), Alta Vista (49), Lakewood (39), Rancho Palos Verdes (27), Orchard (22) and Caliraya Springs (20) –  are too far behind the standings and will just have to contend for the individual trophies.

“It’s an exciting finish we expected and we see the battle going all the way down the final holes,” said tournament chairman and Sta. Lucia VP for purchasing Vincent Santos.
