Jungolf inter-school to unfold at Cebu CC

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Cebu Country Club will host the Visayas leg of the JGFP-ICTSI Inter-school golf championship for two consecutive Sundays starting this weekend in Cebu with another big field expected to contest the titles in various brackets.

Foremost among the divisions to be disputed is the seniors (college) for boys the winners of which will earn all-expense paid trips to Manila for the National collegiate championship next year.

The Philippine Golf Foundation is bankrolling the participation of the college players in a serious effort to strengthen that particular segment of amateur golf that will open the way for a bigger league for them in the future.

The PGF is also supporting the top finishers of the Mindanao leg of the series also supported by Martin Lorenzo, Golf Depot and Inquirer Golf held earlier to the national finals

After Sunday’s first round, participants of the Cebu leg will return on Oct. 26 for the final round.

Aside from the senior and Girls 1, there will be separate events for juniors, Midgets 1 and Midgets for boys as well as Girls 2 and Girls 3 with team and individual trophies up for grabs. The top teams will earn the right to play against the standouts of the three-month, multi-course Metro Manila competitions in the national finals this coming January at the Orchard Golf and Country Club.

The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines and the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. Foundation are working together with the PGF in staging the Inter-school series which has attracted more than 500 jungolfers from at least 40 schools all over the country.
