Assumption, Ateneo widen inter-school junior golf lead

MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo and Assumption College sustained their fine forms to widen their leads in girls division play of the ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School golf championships at the Valley Golf and Country Club north course in Antipolo.

Paulina Sotto exploded with 51 points and Charlene Abalos added 37 as Ateneo pooled 88 for a three-day aggregate of 183 and a commanding 60-point advantage in the Girls 1 division for college teams.

La Salle’s Sunshine Baraquiel (47) and Christine Chua (19) made just a combined 66 for 123 total.

Bianca Pagdanganan and Nikki Bruce, meanwhile, ushered Assumption College to a 21-point cushion in Girls 2 action of the tourney backed chiefly by the ICTSI Foundation with the support of the Philippine Golf Foundation, Martin Lorenzo, Golf Depot and Inquirer Golf.

Pagdanganan made 60 and Bruce carded 52 for 112, giving them a three-round total of 251 far ahead of La Salle Zobel (105-230). Mikha Fortuna and Bernice Ilas scored 55 and 50 points, respectively, for La Salle’s 105 points for the round and 230 total.

Immaculate Concepcion Academy also widened its lead in Girls 3 as Mariel Tee carded 41 and Venice Ngo added 32.

With their 198 total, the ICA girls zoomed ahead by 66 points over La Salle Zobel.

La Salle Zobel also stayed on top by a wide margin after the third round of play at Eastridge course in Binangonan.

Garri Nolasco and Soo Kim Tae aggregated 81 with their 42 and 39, respectively. At 233, they paced Ateneo 1 by 30. Ateneo got 41 points from Miguel Roque and 34 from Santino Diokno.

Sean Jean Ramos of La Salle Greenhills kept in the individual lead in Midgets 2 with his 127 putting him 12 up on Nolasco.

The girls leaders were Charlene Abalos of Ateneo in Girls 1, Sam Bruce in Girls 2 and Jona Magcalayo of La Salle Zobel in Girls 3.
