MANILA, Philippines - Toby’s Sports will stage the first Karyn Velez Memorial Youth Badminton Championships which is expected to lure the country’s leading and rising players set later this month at Powersmash Badminton Center in Makati City.
The three-day elims will start Oct. 22 while the finals is slated Oct. 25 at Robinsons Place Manila Midtown Atrium.
This year’s tournament is named after the country’s former No. 1 player and Toby’s ambassador Karyn “Chibby” Velez.
Toby’s YBC is one of the country’s three junior ranking tournaments under the Philippine National Ranking System (PNRS) and sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association.
Toby’s YBC 2014 is presented by RSL, Smart, and Robinsons Place Manila, and held in partnership with Adidas, Gatorade, Oracare, Poten-cee, C-Lium, Monde Nissin, Lucky Me!, and media partner WhenInManila.com.
Events on tap are the boys’ and girls’ singles Under-13, boys’ and girls’ singles, doubles and mixed doubles for U-15, U-17 and U-19.
Registration is ongoing. To join, fill up entry forms at Toby’s outlets or drop by Toby’s Sports branches at SM North EDSA Main or The Block, Robinsons Manila, Mall of Asia, Megamall, SM Marikina, Glorietta 2, SM Fairview, SM Centerpoint, SM Taytay, SM Aura, Alabang Town Center, SM Marilao, SM Pampanga and SM Baliuag.
Fee is pegged at P500 for one event and P700 for two events.
Deadline for listup is on Oct. 18 with the coaches’ draw date set Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Toby’s Sports Head Office in #73 C. Raymundo Ave., Brgy., Caniogan Pasig City.
