Sun-Ming junior badminton tournament tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines - The first Sun Cellular-Ming Ramos National Juniors badminton tournament Mindanao leg gets going tomorrow with more than 200 participants expected to vie for top honors in various divisions in General Santos City.

Players from the leading badminton clubs and school-based teams in Davao, Maguindanao, Kidapawan, Surigao, host General Santos, Basilan, Cagayan De Oro, Zamboanga and Agusan gear up for a battle royale in the three-day event which stakes not only berths in the national finals but also ranking points.

The tournament, backed by Sun Cellular, SMART Communications, Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) Sports Foundation, Babolat, and sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association (PBA) and Smash Pilipinas, serves as the last of the three-stage nationwide elims and part of the Philippine National Ranking System (PNRS).

Events on tap are the boys’ and girls’ singles for U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 and the boys’ and girls doubles and mixed doubles in the U-15, U-17 and U-19 categories.
