Lualhati Bowling Cup kicks off UE’s 68th anniversary

MANILA, Philippines - More University of the East alumni have confirmed participation in the UE bowling tournament dubbed “Lualhati Bowling Cup”, which kicks off the 68th UE foundation anniversary’s week-long celebrations Sunday at the Paeng’s Midtown Bowl, Robinsons Place Manila.

This year’s UE bowling competition has drawn more teams and individual participants with more cash prizes at stake.

The UE bowling competition is open to UE students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, as well as UE alumni.

The UE bowling committee is chaired by UE information technology director Bong Jaramillo. Co-chairs are human resources and development director Annie Villegas, university registrar Erwin Bermillo, admissions director Marcelo Vergara, cultural affairs director Gener Caringal and student affairs director Mercy Candelaria.

From the first and second elimination round, the top five teams will advance to the finals. There will be special awards for highest singles for male and female.

The UE Alumni Association Inc. (UEAAI) will be fielding three or more teams. The tournament is part of UEAAI’s year-long activities, with the 2014 UE Alumni Grand Homecoming on Sept. 27 as highlight.

The UEAAI bowling teams are initially represented by Commo Rene Chan, Ed Arcilla, Jo Malanum, Bing Rayupa, Rasti Sampaga, Alfred Santiago, Mary Ann Mercado, Joseph Mercado, Macky Olona, Del Rocamora, Angel Bernaldo and Dr. Brenda Dey, Judge Felix Reyes and lawyers Rey Directo and Cherry Bernaldo.
