Dionisio powers PSBA past PNTC in UCAA
MANILA, Philippines - Aries Dionisio took charge for Philippine School of Business Administration, firing 24 points as the Jaguars thwarted the Philippine Nautical and Technical College side, 89-74, yesterday in the 13th Universities and Colleges Athletic Association basketball tournament at the Rizal Technological University gym in Mandaluyong.
The Jaguars bucked a poor start with a strong third quarter charge with Justine Puno combining with Dionisio for 28 points as the Jaguars pulled away at 75-51.
Puno, whose triple in the last 6:47 kept PSBA on top at 63-43 lead, finished with 14 points.
“We had a slow start. But when we let our main men start to play in the second and third periods, that’s when our game picked up,” said Jaguars’ assistant coach Joseph Ocampo who took over from Philip Cezar.
PSBA bounced back from an opening-day loss to Trinity University of Asia, 69-51, with a 100-94 win over Manuel L. Quezon University, 100-94, last Monday with Puno scoring 29 points and Dionisio backing him up with 21 markers.
