Tempra run lures over 5,000 bets

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Some 5,032 runners braved gusty winds and the slight drizzle to play the role of dengue busters in the 2014 Tempra Run Against Dengue at the Cultural Center of the Philippines grounds recently.

“We are very proud to play this role, however small, to at least minimize if not totally eradicate the dengue epidemic in the country,” said Tito Tolentino, country manager of Taisho Pharmaceuticals, in a speech in front of the large crowd that included school and corporate partners, and other officials such as business unit manager Eric Lejano and Cleo Nodado, marketing manager of Taisho Pharmaceuticals.

The advocacy run, also backed by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Mortein Naturgard, Medicard, Business Mirror, Health and Fitness Magazine, Toby’s, Vitwater, Banana Boat and Guard Insect Repellent, was topped by champion Richard Solano, second placer Rene Desuyo and third placer Reggie Lumawag in the 10k male division.

The top 3 10K female winners were Ailene Tolentino, Marie Grace Tolentino and Januvie Daano.

Topping the 1K Family Run was the Sanipa family, followed by the Agana and Agbulos families.
