MANILA, Philippines - Team Philippines paddled its way to podium finishes in the 2,000-meter distance races Sunday to finish their campaign in the ICF Dragon Boat World Championships in Poznan, Poland with five golds, three silvers and three bronzes.
The Filipinos took the bronze in the senior men’s 10-seater, logging 9:57’66 behind champion Poland (9:47’15) and runner-up Russia (9:47’59) in the last day of action at Malta Regatta Course.
They duplicated the third place finish in the pursuit races, where the junior men’s 10-seater crew clocked 10:18’23 behind Canada’s winning 10:14’95 and Russia’s 10:16’00 and the senior men’s 20-seater bets finished in 8:35’51 behind winner Ukraine (8:32’61) and runner-up Russia (8:33’73).
The Phl had earlier stamped their class in the 200-meter distance events, ruling the seniors men’s 20-seater, seniors mixed 10-seater, seniors men’s 10-seater and juniors men’s 10-seater. The Pinoys were also victorious in the 500-meter distance, reigning in the juniors men’s 10-seater while getting the silver in the seniors mens 10-seater, senior men’s 20-seater, and seniors mixed 10-seater.
