MANILA, Philippines - Another run-bike-run challenge awaits the country’s finest duathletes in the 2014 Active Health Duathlon set Sept. 7 at the Sandbox, Alviera in Porac, Pampanga.
The route starts with a 6-km run along Porac access road followed by a 60-km bike along the SCTEX (from Alviera to Dinalupihan toll plaza and back) and ends with the 4K run.
The race is supported by Unilab Active Health (ULAH), Aboitiz, Active Health Sports Gel, Alviera, Enervon Active, Enervon HP, AboitizPower, Roar Sports Drink, Timex, Orbea, Maxxis, Saucony, Shimano, Crystal Clear, Men’s Health magazine, Women’s Health magazine and The Philippine STAR.
This marks the first time in three editions that the event organized by Bike King headed by Raul Cuevas and presented by Unilab Active Health (ULAH) will be held at Sandbox.
The South Clark Exit, SCTEX in Clark, Pampanga was the venue in 2012 and 2013 with Robeno Javier and Monica Torres ruling the inaugural race while ULAH’s duathlete Augusto Benedicto and Mirasol Abad dominated the second edition.
Seeing action are 800 participants, including members of the national team and seasoned duathletes in the Elite category.
The top three finishers in the male and female elite will receive P10,000, P6,000 and P4,000 cash prizes while the age group top three placers will bring home medals and gift packs.
Claiming of race kits is on Sept. 6 at the Sandbox or at the Unilab Main Office, Bayanihan Center in Pasig.
Only road and triathlon bikes will be allowed in the race. Bike check is on race day, starting at 4 a.m.
Action starts at 6 a.m. while awarding ceremony is at 11 a.m. at Sandbox, Alviera.
