Wiggins: rare No. 1 pick traded before rookie year
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers can finally complete the long-discussed blockbuster trade that will send Kevin Love to Cleveland on Saturday.
When they do, it will make Andrew Wiggins a bit of an anomaly. He will join Chris Webber as the only No. 1 overall draft picks to be traded without playing a game for the team that drafted them since the NBA-ABA merger in 1976.
The Cavaliers are sending Wiggins and Anthony Bennett to Minnesota for Love. They will also send Miami's 2015 first-round draft pick to the 76ers in the three-team deal.
The Sixers will also get guard Alexey Shved and forward Luc Mbah a Moute from the Timberwolves and send Thaddeus Young to Minnesota in the trade, which will be announced on Saturday.
