MANILA, Philippines - Princess Superal scored an expected romp in the Southern Ladies Open, running away with a 10-point win over The Country Club teammate Yuka Saso with a closing 70 worth 56 points to complete a three-peat at the Apo Golf and Country Club in Davao City yesterday.
After a 68 and 69, the reigning US Girls Juniors champion slowed down with a two-under card but still doubled her lead for two days as her pursuers fumbled while trying to give chase in the final 18 holes of the annual event presented by MVP Sports Foundation.
Superal, 17, finished with a 171, that included a 58 and 57, to nail another victory after nipping Mexican Marijosse Navarro on the 37th hole to capture the US Girls Juniors championship in Arizona last month.
Saso, also a winner of a couple of international titles the last two months, carded 50 points for a 161 while Sofia Chabon took third place at 155 after a 55.
Sam Martirez placed fourth at 147 after a 48 while Abegail Arevalo capped TCC’s sweep of the first five spots with a 51 for a 146.
