MANILA, Philippines - Dennis Laurente will defend his WBC Asia light middleweight crown against Ely Pangarinbuan of Indonesia in the main event of a triple bill at the Elorde Sports Center tonight.
The Elorde brothers, Juan Martin “Bai” and Juan Miguel “Mig” will also see action against tough Indon fighters Juniston Simbolon and Paulus Baransano, respectively.
Laurente, a veteran of 57 fights, with 47 wins (28 by KO), five losses and five draws will try to make his second defense of the title he won last February to improve his world ranking and land in the top 10. His opponent has a record of 34 fight, winning 26 with six losses and two draws.
Bai Elorde, currently the WBO Asia Pacific Super featherweight champion is preparing for his second title defense in October against a Japanese and his handlers are eyeing a convincing win in this fight against Simbolon. Bai is currently ranked No. 10 in the world.
Younger brother Mig faces a shorter but stocky opponent in Baransano and promised to end the bout in the early rounds.
The two Elorde brothers are being lined up by their father Johnny Elorde, a former Southeast Asian Games gold medalist for bigger fights till the end of the year.
