Pacquiao a no-show in PBA Draft Combine
MANILA, Philippines – Boxing icon and PBA aspirant Manny Pacquiao failed to attend the two-day PBA Draft Combine event, where rookie hopefuls’ vital statistics are measured and their skills assessed through a series of tests.
Pacquiao need not worry though as PBA Commissioner Chito Salud said the boxer can still submit his biometrics at later date and avoid getting removed from the official list of rookie aspirants for the 2014 PBA Draft.
“It should have been last week (Pacquiao’s submission of his biometircs),” Salud said in a report by sports.tempo.com.ph.
“It could be anytime this week when he arrives in Manila from GenSan,” he added.
Pacquiao, already head coach of expansion team Kia Motors, is also eyeing to become a PBA player for the same team but has to go through the PBA Draft slated this Sunday, Aug. 24.
But the fighting congressman is still reportedly in Sarangani province, which he represents in Congress.
Pacquiao, the current WBO welterweight champion, is set to fight Chris Algieri on Nov. 23 in Macau.
