The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Philip Paniamogan’s second half explosion in Jose Rizal U’s 87-78 victory last Monday that steered the Heavy Bombers to No. 3 spot netted him the NCAA Press Corps-Accel Quantum Plus/3XVI Player of the Week honors.

JRU, which last made to the Final Four in 2011, will enter the second round of the elims trailing behind defending champion San Beda College (7-1) and second-running Arellano University (7-2) with a 6-3 mark.

“We really want to make it to the Final Four this yeaer that’s why I’m giving all my best,” said Paniamogan, who normed 18 points this season.

Scoreless in the first 20 minutes of play, the top JRU gunner found his shooting touch in the last two periods, drilling in 26 points to lift the Bombers to their fourth consecutive win and sixth overall in nine matches.

He also had three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 36 minutes of play to bag the weekly plum backed by Bactigel hand sanitizer, Doctor J Mighty Alcohol and Mighty Mom Dishwashing.

JRU exploded for 30 points in the third period to seize control at 68-63 and posted the game’s biggest lead at 82-68 as the Cardinals failed to stop Paniamogan.
