UE keeps romp in boys volley
MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion University of the East continued to steamroll the opposition by posting straight sets victories in the UAAP Season 77 boys volleyball tournament over the weekend at the Adamson Gym.
The Junior Warriors overwhelmed National University in a rematch of last season’s championship, 25-17, 25-22, 25-11, on Saturdayand defeated University of Santo Tomas, 25-9, 25-17, 25-22, on the following day to remain unbeaten in five matches.
The Bullpups rebounded back from their loss to UE with a 21-25, 27-25, 25-22, 27-25 win over Ateneo yesterday to improve to 4-1 in second place.
On Saturday, the Tiger Cubs beat UP Integrated School, 25-9. 25-17, 25-20, while the Blue Eaglets downed Far Eastern University-Diliman, 25-12, 25-16, 25-20. UST and Ateneo are tied in third spot at 3-4.
In the lone five-setter match over the weekend, the Baby Tams overcame La Salle-Zobel’s uprising for a 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 15-9 win.
In girls play, NU downed titleholder UST in their Season 75 Finals rematch, 25-19, 25-16, 25-23, on Saturday to remain unbeaten in four starts.
UE defeated UPIS, 25-21, 25-15, 25-14, while La Salle-Zobel whipped FEU-Diliman, 25-7, 25-15, 25-10.
