TORONTO — England striker Jermain Defoe will miss two to three weeks of the Major League Soccer season with a groin injury.
Defoe's team, Toronto FC, announced Monday that scans revealed Defoe had a strain, likely developed last week against D.C. United.
Defoe, who has a team-high 11 goals this season, will miss Wednesday's MLS All-Star game after already sitting out Toronto's 2-0 victory over Montreal on Saturday.
Toronto next plays the Crew in Columbus on Saturday.
