MANILA, Philippines – USA Basketball has cut the Washington Wizards' John Wall and Bradley Beal, and Paul Millsap of the Atlanta Hawks from its roster bound for the FIBA World Cup in Madrid, Spain late this month.
Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the development, adding that the exclusion of the three players and the loss of Paul George to a freak injury last week have reduced the pool down to 16 players.
The final submission of the roster for the FIBA World Cup will be a day before the start of the tournament on Aug. 30.
The remaining players for Team USA are centers DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Mason Plumlee and Andre Drummond; guards Derrick Rose, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and Kyle Korver; recent Manila visitors DeMar DeRozan, James Harden and Damian Lillard; and forwards Kevin Durant, Gordon Hayward, Chandler Parsons and Kenneth Faried.
