MANILA, Philippines - Yuka Saso slowed down with a 74 but still came away with a three-stroke romp over teammate Bernice Olivarez-Ilas in the PING Summer Championship Series @ Mission Hills at the Arnold Palmer Course in Southern California over the weekend.
Saso, the newest member of Team ICTSI, used a solid four-under 68 card in the opening round to seize control then bucked a pair of late double-bogeys in the second round with a second straight birdie on the par-5 18th to win the 36-hole tournament with a 142 total.
Olivarez-Ilas eagled the final hole but could only match Saso’s 74 for second at 145 while Mikhaela Fortuna, coming off a victory in the US Kids-Teen World in North Carolina last week, finished third at 149 after a 73 to complete Team ICTSI’s domination.
