MANILA, Philippines - Roy Diong and Jhanine Mansueto bested their rivals to rule their respective divisions in the Run for Life 2, a fund-raiser of the Philippine Red Cross which drew more than 3,500 runners in Tubod, Lanao del Norte recently.
Diong dominated the 5K male division while Mansueto lorded it over the field in the women’s side of the event, the proceeds of which will be used to purchase additional equipment for the newly constructed blood bank.
“The new equipment will be a big help in further improving our services to the people of Lanao del Norte. This will enable us to help serve more people and save more lives,” said PRC provincial administrator Reynaldo Ruiz.
During the first “Run for Life,” its proceeds was used to help construct the new blood bank building in the Provincial Capitol grounds at Barangay Pigcarangan, Tubod.
The Run for Life 2 was graced by Gov. Khalid Dimaporo, Vice-Gov. Cristy Atay and provincial administrator Joselito Quibranza.
Among the groups which took part in the fun run were troops from 35th (Makamandag) Infantry Battalion, 3rd Light Armor (Kaagapay) Battalion, 15 Infantry (Molave Warrior) Battalion, and 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade, police officers from the Provincial PNP, government employees, officials and staff from DepEd and PhilHealth, volunteer health workers from the towns of Baroy and Lala, as well as barangay and provincial officials.
