MANILA, Philippines - The SBP-Passerelle twin tournament, BEST Center’s prestigious interschool basketball competition for kids, kicked off its 29th season with the Visayas leg at the Lux Oriens gym of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo in Cebu and the NCR games at the Xavier School Sports Complex in San Juan recently.
Also slated are the Luzon games on Aug. 2 at the Angeles University Foundation Sta. Barbara compound, and the Mindanao games on Aug. 2 at Philippines Women’s College in Davao.
The championship games will be held early December in Cebu.
This year, La Salle Green Hills will be defending their SBP title, while Chiang Kai Shek College is the reigning Passerelle champion.
Six hundred players from 40 schools in Metro Manila are competing for the coveted trophy as well as bragging rights as the best players aged 9-12 in the SBP category and aged 12-14 in the Passerelle division.
The SBP-Passerelle Twin Tournament is a platform for aspiring cagers to showcase and further hone their basketball skills, as well as promote discipline, sportsmanship and camaraderie among its players. It is organized by the BEST Center, the country’s premier sports clinic which boasts of a distinguished roster of graduates like Larry Fonacier, Chris Tiu, LA Tenorio, James Yap, JV Casio and Kiefer Ravena.
