MANILA, Philippines - Toyota Motor Philippines holds the second leg of the Vios Cup One Make Race Series today with Jason Choachuy of Toyota Balintawak and Toyota Quezon Ave.’s lead driver Allan Uy out to firm up their respective title bids at Clark International Speedway in Clark, Pampanga.
Choachuy, who topped Race 1, totes 35 points, three points ahead of Uy, who ruled Race 2 in the kick off leg of the event, a brainchild of Toyota Motor Philippines president Michinobu Sugata, aimed at reliving the long years of Filipinos passion for Toyota cars with support from all Toyota dealer outlets.
This makes the second leg worth watching with a number of side events on tap for the spectators, including the Toyota Car Club Trackday, fun-filled games for both the kids and adults, fans day fun activities, displays, selling opportunities and a concert featuring Urban Dub.
Twenty-eight other drivers are vying in the event. From an entry level high performance Bridgestone RE002 in the kickoff leg, the field this time will be using the Bridgestone RE11, a higher performance tire that assures faster pace.
Luis Gono of Toyota North EDSA, who topped the qualifying time trials, is third overall with 27 points followed by Inaki Araneta of Toyota Alabang and Dominic Ochoa of Toyota Quezon Ave. with 18 and 11 points, respectively.
Carlos Loinaz of TBT and Basti Escalante of Toyota Otis posted 10 points apiece in the first leg while Carlos Castaneda of Toyota Alabang made seven points, Pauland Dumlao of Toyota San Fernando had five points and Charlie Cojuangco of Toyota Dagupan piled up four points.
Phoemela Barranda also guns for her second straight triumph in the Celebrity Race against Sam YG, Fabio Ide, Jinno Rufino and Rhian Ramos. while Paulo Subido, Mico Halili and Angel Rivero join the cast in the Media class.
Two new drivers -- British Steve Bicknell, Alexis Salvador from Cabanatuan, are also competing in the 31 car grid event along with Bryan Co of TLU, Ferdie Raquelsantos of TMI, Jeje Villena of TAI, Juan Nolasco of TBK, Kyle Reyes, Paul Ang of Toyota Marilao, Robert Liles of Toyota Shaw and Tonton Ramos of TQA.
Meanwhile, free Vios Cup shuttle will be available at Holiday Inn Hotel and Montevista Villas within Mimosa Leisure Estate, Clark.
