Romualdez, Villanueva boost Palawan ELO cast

MANILA, Philippines - Jerome Romualdez and Rafaella Villanueva signed up for the Series 58 Palawan Pawnshop President’s ELO Cup Regional Age Group tennis circuit, completing a stellar cast in the event presented by Technifibre firing off today (Friday, July 18) at the Olivarez Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.

Romualdez, one of the country’s top junior players, banners the 32-player boys’ 16-and-under draw and is also entered in the premier 18-and-U section together with No. 1 Marcen Gonzales while Villanueva heads the girls’ 14-and-U category and joins top seed Chloe Mae Saraza in the 18-and-U class of the week-long tournament sponsored by Palawan Pawnshop through COO Bobby Castro and sanctioned by Philta under president and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez.

“This is going to be another exciting tournament with the country’s leading and rising player set to slug it out a highly competitive level,” said Olivarez under whose honor the event is held.

Marcus del Rosario and Tim Gumban lead the boys’ 14-and-U division while Nio Tria and Angelo Aparte are the players to beat in the 12-and-U category of the tournament serving as part of the year-round, nationwide Palawan Pawnshop Express age-group tournament.

“Through the years, it has been the commitment of Palawan Pawnshop to support and develop our players by providing top-notch tournaments like this,” said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro. “This tournament will surely inspire our young players to achieve a higher level of play.”
