PLDT-Phl Superliga matches postponed

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The organizing SportsCore yesterday announced the postponement of today’s games in the PLDT Home-Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference volleyball tournament due to threats of heavy rains and flooding expected to be spawned by typhoon Glenda.

Metro Manila was declared under Signal No. 1 yesterday but many parts of the country were placed on alert under signal Nos. 3 and 2. Classes have been suspended in more than 30 areas of concern.

SportsCore and PSL president Ramon Suzara said the league puts the welfare of the athletes and the volleyball fans above all and will announce the rescheduling of games very soon.

Tickets purchased for today’s games will be honored for the featured matches on July 20 also at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.

Thus, AirAsia’s semifinals match against Generika Army will have to wait as well the match between Petron and Cagayan Valley to determine the fifth and sixth placers in the women’s division of the inter-club tournament supported by PLDT Home DSL and backed by Mikasa, Asics, Mueller Tapes, Jinling Sports Equipment, LGR, Bench and Healthway Medical.

Cignal was to battle Instituto Estetico Manila in the men’s division.
