George joins NBA team vs Nationals

MANILA, Philippines - The Indiana Pacers’ Paul George is the latest addition to the NBA selection that Gilas Pilipinas plays in dream matches dubbed for The Last Home Stand All-Star Charity Event on July 22 and 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Business and cage patron Manny V. Pangilinan announced the inclusion of George in the NBA team in his Twitter account during his birthday yesterday.

“What a nice bday surprise – We welcome All-Star Paul George back to Manila for #GilasLastHOMEStand –mapapaLABAN sina Gabe, Ping, Jeff dito,” Pangilinan tweeted.

Other NBA stars confirmed to be coming for the event are Blake Griffin, Paul Pierce, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, Demar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, Nick Johnson, Terrence Ross.

Some of these players posted birthday greetings to Pangilinan on Twitter yesterday.

“MVP I think what you do in honor of your birthday for the Filipinos is amazing. Giving back is why we do what we do. See you soon!,” said Ross.

“I love Filipino basketball fans but I hear you are the biggest one of all, MVP. Looking forward to seeing you! HBD!” said DeRozan.

“We are going to give the Gilas National Team a real workout in honor of your birthday next week! Watch out!” said George.

Shortly after the two-game series versus the NBA stars, Gilas Pilipinas leaves for Miami, Florida for a four-day clinic before touring Europe for a series of tune-up matches in the last stage of its buildup for the FIBA World Cup.
