4 Pacman boxers lead Day 2 winners

DIGOS City, Philippines - – Four members of the Team Pacman advanced to the next round to lead Day 2 winners of the PLDT-ABAP National Amateur Boxing Championships here at the Digos City Stadium.

However, four other Pacman fighters were booted out of contention after bowing to their respective opponents.

Jericho Sahohito of Pacman B advanced to the next round after beating Mounsour Grullo of Maasin City in the Jr. Boys light flyweight (46kgs) category via 3-0 victory, team A’s Gerald Alvarez defeated Reymart Foster of Sorsogon via 3-0 win in the same weight division, John Peter Patrick Cagunay scored a split decision win against teammate Oliver Genecera in the Jr. Boys light bantamweight (52kgs) and Ryan Moreno scored a TKO win on the second round over Joel Ramos of Tayabas, Quezon in the Youth Boys pinweight (46kgs) division.

Aside from Genecera, the other Team Pacman fighters who were eliminated were Giovanie Gaviola who was TKOed in the first round by Jaybee Canedo of Camiguin in the Youth Boys pinweight class, Rey Tagulaylay who was dominated by Ryan Torres of San Fernando City, La Union and Edwin Galvez who also lost via 3-0 verdict to Regel Lou Alde of General Santos City in the Youth boys flyweight (52kgs) division.

 Cebu City fighters had three fighters advancing to the next round led by PNG gold medal winner Junrel Jimenez who scored a TKO win due to injury over Reymak Jay Ibones of Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat with 1:43 remaining on the second round in the Youth Boys flyweight division, Kit Ceron Garces won by unanimous decision against Giovanne Argate of Leyte in the Jr. Boys flyweight (50kgs) match and Jorge Edusma who scored a unanimous decision over the taller Marvin Esquierdo of Cagayan de Oro City in the Youth Boys bantamweight (56kgs) division.

Completing the second day results were Falcon Cris Ocana of CDO who scored a TKO win on the second round over Jumar Aquino in the Jr. Boys light bantamweight division, Mario Jaga of Bago City who survived with a 2-1 win over Romer Dagoy of Zamboanga City in the Jr. Boys bantamweight match, Ronnel Ausa of Quezon defeating Elric Pamisa of CDO via unanimous decision in the Youth Boys pinweight division, Marvin Tabamo of CDO scored a 3-0 win over Reynante Ganal Jr. of Occidental Mindoro in the Youth Boys flyweight division and Gilbert Rey Jerusalem of Camiguin who pulled a 2-1 win over Jeric Ferrer of Tayabas, Quezon in the Youth Boys bantamweight category.
