MANILA, Philippines - Triathlon action returns to Playa Laiya in San Juan, Batangas with a large field of 750 participants all ready to answer the starting gun for Unilab Active Health’s (ULAH) Tri United 2 on July 6.
A field of 625 triathletes, including a hundred females, will engage in the long distance (2K swim-60 K bike-15 K run) categories that will start at the beach of Playa Laiya and stretch out to San Juan Pier for the turning point before returning to Playa Laiya for transition and finish line. Long distance categories include the male and female elite, team competition and male and female age-groups.
Meanwhile, 125 participants have signed up for the sprint distance course of 750m swim-20 K bike-5 K run.
The event is sponsored by ULAH, Playa Laiya, Aboitiz, Landco, AboitizPower, OtterBox, Enervon Activ, Active Health Sports Gel, Enervon HP, Orbea, Shimano, Crystal Clear, Maxxis, Pocari Sweat, Timex and Saucony.
For the safety of participants, a full-road closure will be implemented with the help of San Juan Mayor Rodolfo Manalo and Association of Laiya Resort Owners president Marvi Naval.
A total cash prize P40,000 is at stake in the Elite division. All Top 3 male and female category winners will receive medals and gift packs while team competition winners will receive trophies, medals and gift packs.
Before the race, participants may pick up their race kits and have their respective bikes checked by organizer Bike King (headed by Raul Cuevas) on July 5 at Playa Laiya. Also held on the same day is a Tri United 2 expo featuring booths of event sponsors like Saucony, Maxxis Tires and Active Health Sports Gels which offer big discounts to participants and guests. The race briefing has been set f 5:30 p.m.
