Roxas, Vinias cop street basketball plums

MANILA, Philippines - Raylord Roxas bagged his second street basketball crown while Maria Magnolia Vinias took the girls’ title in the grand finals of the 2014 Quantum Street Basketball tournament at SM Manila recently.

The 17-year-old Roxas, a Hotel and Restaurant Management student, bested Christian Asensi from SM Calamba in the championship to clinch the crown, his second after ruling the 2012 edition of the arcade event organized by Quantum Amusement Corp.

“I didn’t expect to win again but I’m happy about it,” said Roxas, who represented the country in the China Cup in 2012.

Vinias, 13, toppled 2010 winner Elizabeth Lintingco and Bacolod top scorer Eldine Koch to capture the girls diadem. Both Roxas and Vinias came from Quantum SM Clark.

Roxas, Vinias and the other top finishers received cash prizes, trophies and gift certificates from Quantum Amusement and the event’s co-partner Rebisco Fudgee Bar.

Quantum is one of the largest networks of amusement centers in the country with 67 stores, bringing in the latest games and attractions from the US, Japan and China.

Street Basketball is the original arcade game where a single player shoots as many hoops as possible within a time period.
