Gov’t bodies vie in inter-agency ladies’ sports fest

MANILA, Philippines - Participants from 10 government bodies are seeing action in five sports and three fun events in the ongoing third Inter-Government Agency Female Employees Sportsfest at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Long jump legend Elma Muros-Posadas and world women’s 10-ball champion Rubilen Amit led the lighting of the urn and oath of sportsmanship, respectively, to formally open the sporstfest.

Akiko Thomson-Guevarra, gender and development commissioner-in-charge of the Philippine Sports Commission, welcomed the guests headed by DFA assistant secretary Melita Thomeczek and administrative services director Ronaldo Joves and DOE sports chair Danilo Montillano and employees association chair Josephine Panes.

Employees from the departments of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Local Government, Energy, Health, Tourism, Transportation and Communication, Public Works and Highways, Social Welfare and Development, Trade and Industry and the Philippine Sports Commission will vie in badminton, bowling, table tennis and volleyball as well as fun run, mass aerobics and fun games.

All games will be played at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Clinics in badminton and table tennis were held Friday, from 1- 5 p.m.

Badminton games will be played on July 8, 10 and 21; bowling on June 25, and 27, July 2, 4, 9, 11, 16 and 18; volleyball on July 2, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 21 and 24 and table tennis on June 25 and 27, July 2, 4, 9, 11, 16 and 18.

Fun Day and closing rites will be on July 25.
