MANILA, Philippines - Flynn Jackes of Team Kart Master Drakar of Singapore uncorked another double victory that proved himself the top young karting ace recently in the second leg of the 2014 Petron Blaze 100 ROK Cup Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack.
The 11-year-old Jackes, the reigning Asian Karting Mini-ROK champ, not only copped the KF Restricted Blaze 100 crown but also captured the Mini-ROK plum of this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Petron, Petron Blaze 100 Euro 4, Petron XCS, Petron Ultron, Petron Xtra, Petron Sprint, Magnolia Pure Water and Yokohama.
He showed grace under pressure as he kept presence of mind all the way to the finish to survive two close-shaved encounters.
First, he had to ward off the big challenge from Sean Draeco McLelland who stuck too close throughout that Jackes managed to pull off the win in the KF Restricted Blaze 100 class by just 0.192 of a second.
Mikey Jordan took third place while Keith Co and Larco Cortez wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.
Later, he figured in a hotly-contested duel with Eduardo Coseteng Jr. of Eagle Cement dicing for the lead throughout and went side-by-side going to the finish line.
Luckily, Jackes nosed out Coseteng in their photo-finish dash to the finish line by a slim 0.047 of a second.
Bianca Bustamante of Formula-E Racing took third place.
David wowed the crowd with his dominating debut stint winning by 32 seconds ahead over runner-up Joaquin Garrido with Rav Ezra Gaspar and Spencer Troy Cortez checking in third and fourth, respectively.
William Casequin also of Team Kart Master Drakar of Singapore clinched his second straight triumph in the Formula SL Novice Xtra over Julia delos Angeles and McLelland.
